Over the last year, a key turning point came when we realised that our usual approach to pitching – focusing on our capabilities first – no longer felt as relevant in a climate where clients have started looking for something different.
With challenges like AI disruption, data overload, global uncertainty and budget unpredictability, we saw that what clients really need right now is actually a partner who gets their world and can help them prove their impact internally to the CEOs, CFOs and the board. That meant we needed to shift from selling solutions to starting strategic conversations that were laser-focused on the point of need.
This mindset shift, starting with their business reality and pressure points, not our pitch, has made our approach feel far more relevant, and it’s strengthened both conversion and client trust.
Behind the scenes we’ve been evolving how we work, introducing digital products, incorporating AI into workflows etc but we hadn’t updated our narrative to explain this. We had the odd slide not the end-to end-story. So we’ve updated our approach. We now frame every conversation around the specific pressures they’re facing. Be it supply chain disruption, tech integration or needing to do more with less. We show how an end-to-end platform fuelled by data and enabled by technology supports a talent-led approach to the desired outcomes and in doing so, we help them navigate uncertainty and complexity with confidence.
The MSQ model has never suffered from the silos issue but it became apparent that it was no longer relevant to simply talk about our capabilities and how they come together. Clients are under pressure from all sides – media platform consolidation, data complexity, the relentless need for always on content, reputational risk, etc – and we had to reorient our approach to how we meet those challenges head-on with solutions that are connected, relevant and outcome-focused.
Therefore, the challenge was to show up differently. To have clearer, more commercially relevant conversations, supported by succinct use cases that speak directly to those pressures.
That required us to evolve our mindset from being a collection of highly collaborative agencies to a truly connected platform for insights, brand strategy, creativity, media and technology.
In showcasing an end-to-end platform solution, MSQ has been able to meet clients with exactly what they need; speed, clarity, integration and effectiveness but without losing the depth of specialist thinking and human touch.
This has meant we have opened new conversations with senior stakeholders like CFOs and CEOs, who are looking for partners that understand the bigger picture.
It’s also allowed us to work on more ambitious, joined-up briefs. The kind that make a measurable difference to brands and business performance. Internally, it’s made our teams sharper and more connected, because we’re all pulling toward the same goal: helping our clients navigate complexity and unlock growth.
This is the time to do different! The world is changing fast around us, and we have no choice but to try new things and learn from them.
