Early Worm Club: How to Master Your Listening Skills - with Lizzie Palmer

We talk to prospects and clients every day, but are we listening to them to learn and understand or simply to reply so that we look good?

Whether trying to build rapport in a chemistry meeting, or pitching ideas and services to existing clients, active listening is a skill we all need to master.

Listening requires more than hearing, meaning the sounds that you hear. Listening means focussing and paying attention not only to the story, but how it’s told, the use of language and voice, and how the other person uses her or his body.  In other words, it means being aware of both verbal and non-verbal messages: what’s being said, and equally important, what’s not being said.

Our ability to listen effectively depends on the degree to which we perceive and understand these messages.

In this interactive session, Lizzie Palmer will investigate what blocks us from listening, and explore how to listen to ourselves, as well as others.

If we listen well, we’re better able to build rapport and relationships, build trust, build on each other’s ideas, and spot buying signals that will help us grow our agency business.
